Tiny Tina's Wonderlands should tweak Mirrors of Mystery's release format - New Style Motorsport

while many Tiny Tina’s Wonderland players were positive about the game after release, praising its combat and storytelling, discussion of the spin-off has turned more negative recently. The complaints are largely related to the Coiled Captors DLC, with many casualties on the pack due to its general lack of content.

Compared to the large expansions observed with the borderlands games, providing several hours of content for just $5 more, the first Mirror of Mystery in Tiny Tina’s Wonderland it’s surprisingly light on things to do despite its $10 price tag. While this would be frustrating no matter what, as players would surely have loved some full expansions, part of the problem is related to how it unlocks. the content of Mirrors of Mystery over time.

The Troubled Release Format for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands DLC

When borderlands Expansions like Assault on Dragon Keep were released, players had access to all the content at once. A full story campaign, raid bosses, side quests, and gear were all accessible at once. Unfortunately, this is not the case with Mirrors of Mystery, as the Coiled Captors content has a problematic launch format.

Each week after Mirror of Mystery launches, the boss will evolve and become more difficult, gaining new attacks and a larger health bar. In theory, this is a good idea as it encourages players to keep coming back to the game. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough content in the rest of the DLC for this approach to work. Coiled Captors last between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the level of the player. Tiny Tina’s Wonderland build, a far cry from the 5-10 hour expansions of borderlands.

Due to this release format for Tiny Tina’s Wonderland‘ DLC, some players feel like they only get 10 minutes of content for $10, a huge asking price. While Coiled Captors would be controversial no matter what, there could be a lot less outrage if players could access all the boss stages in one go. Currently, a one to two-hour DLC is spread out over four weeks, making the release of each Mirror of Mystery that much less exciting.

If the Mirrors of Mystery were to be added as part of a larger expansion, weekly mission updates would make a lot of sense, as there would be other aspects of the DLC to enjoy in the meantime. However, since all of the Coiled Captors DLC consists of one repeatable but short quest, timing the different versions of the boss makes little sense. In future Mirrors of Mystery packs, Tiny Tina’s Wonderland players should be free to run the mission multiple times in a row, seeing all the different versions of the boss in a few hours.

If players could see each phase of the quest in one play session, the changes to Vesper’s narrative and the increasing strength of the boss would be clearer. With a week passing between runs, many players will forget the last version of the boss they fought and won’t see how much it has changed between their runs. Since Coiled Captors is such a short DLC, the timing of the different difficulty levels is untenable. As such, in future Mirrors of Mystery Gearbox should allow players to access all variants of the boss in one go, making the DLC feel a little less small. While Mirrors of Mystery will always be seen as a step down from previous expansions, changing the launch format for the boss stages could still make a difference.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderland It is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
