Welcome to another installment of Wordle where we’re still guessing 5-letter words after all this time. For many it has become a daily ritual, or nightly if I am the one staying up late to do Wordle every night just when it changes to be able to write this. People must know the answer!

Before we dive in, if Wordle is too tame for you, there’s another word game right now that’s not a clone of Wordle, but recommended by the guy who created Wordle. Is named knots, and it’s essentially a little mini crossword puzzle with a twist every day. I’d look it up and check it out, it’s pretty clever and kind of cool, like Wordle when everyone first discovered it. It could be the next big thing.

An introduction to Wordle

  • For those new to the game, read this word primer before you start playing and learn how this trend started.

Today’s Wordle #315 Answer and Clue

Before we begin, I’ll once again preface this section with a spoiler warning so you can look the other way now if you don’t want the real answer. If you want a hint, I can try something different and a little more direct this time to see if people like it. Just in terms of structure, this word has only one vowel, but it is used twice. That’s all I’ll say! Hope that helps you without completely giving it away. But if you want it as a gift?

The answer is…

Abstain from!

It’s one of those words that we probably use a lot in conversation, but we don’t really think about it during a riddle like this, and I was actually a bit surprised that it was the answer. How did I get to her?

I started with my usual CRANE, which only gave me the R. Then I guessed RUMPS, which I’m pretty sure the New York Times will never pick as a word, but it deleted more letters and made me lose where the R is again. I left blank a new word with all the original letters, so I made LORDS just to try to find the vowel and the location of the R, and it turned out it did both. From there, I spent quite some time with my remaining cards until that led me to FORGET. Double Os, but not next to each other like SCOOP or something.

That’s all you needed today, so come back tomorrow and give Knotwords a try if you’d like. Let me know what you think of him.
