EVERYONE THAT WAS REDACTED LAST NIGHT…

The NFL welcomed 32 new players last night, and we should be happy for each and every one. Sure, some won’t live up to his first-round pedigree, but 32 dreams were realized, and that’s amazing. You can check out each pick, complete with analysis and ratings from NFL expert Pete Prisco. right here.

The defense dominated the draft early on. Each of the first five picks were defenders. for the second time in the common draft era (since 1967). The other time was in 1991.

Overall, however, it was an even split (16 offensive players, 16 defensive players) and it was no surprise that the offensive line (nine picks), defensive line (seven) and wide receiver (six) dominated the night. At the other extreme of things, there was no running backs or tight ends and only one quarterback (more on that later).

So who had the best night?

…AND ALSO GOOD MORNING TO THE NEW YORK GIANTS AND THE NEW YORK JETS

How about this? The giants and the Jets — not exactly known for their recent success — were among the NFL pundits Jordan Dajani biggest winners.

The Giants got Thibodeaux at five and the offensive lineman Evan Neal at seven.

  • Dajani: “Thibodeaux was regarded as the No. 1 overall pick in mock drafts during the college football season…Putting him No. 5 overall is good value, all things considered, and the Giants again scored for value in the No. 7, taking who might be the safest player in the draft in Neal.”

The big news entering the draft was the Giants not pick Daniel Jones’ fifth-year option. But Neal should help, and if Jones still struggles, 2023 is a much better quarterback class than 2022. Regardless, the Giants have two potential franchise mainstays at key positions.

Meanwhile, the Jets followed Gardner’s pick with wide receiver Garrett Wilson on the 10 and edge defense Jermaine Johnson II at 26. Priscus rated those picks as B+, A and A, respectively.

  • Priscus: “Gardner is the best cover player in the draft…Wilson is a speed player who will help Zach Wilson a lot…Johnson is great value at this point in the draft…He fits in with what Robert Saleh you want on your edge runners.”

As for what else stood out…

We’ve got loads of content, including individual pick analysis, ratings and much more, all right here.

Honorable mentions:

And not so good morning for…

THE QUARTERBACK CLASS

In the weeks and months leading up to the NFL Draft, he was generally considered a weak quarterback class. Last night, NFL teams confirmed that notion.

Of course, it’s not all bad news for this class. Being selected after the first round means less pressure to play and be successful right away, which could very well help this group in the future. Still, there were only four players who attended the draft and didn’t hear their names on Thursday. Two — Malik Willis Y Matt Corral — are quarterbacks.

Not so honorable mentions:

AJ Brown to Eagles, Marquise Brown to Cardinals as wild wide receiver’s offseason continues

USA TSI

Wow. just wow Two other big trades involving wide receivers took place last night. the headliner is AJ Brown to the Eagles. Here’s the trade:

Brown immediately got a four-year, $100 million ($57 million guaranteed) contract extension.

This trade, quite simply, was a blast. Brown is a star. Since he entered the NFL three seasons ago, he has averaged 16.2 receiving yards, second in the league behind Mike Williams (min. 150 receptions). That great playing skill is the reason Eagles get an “A” on NFL guru Jeff Kerr commercial degrees.

  • Kerr: “Brown will be paired with devonta smith to form one of the youngest wide receiver tandems in the NFL (Brown turns 25 this year and Smith 23). Quez Watkins (23) will line up in the slot, with Jalen hurts (23) Have a trio of young receivers to build on. The Eagles had just 1,993 receiving yards from WRs in 2021, third fewest in the NFL. Landing Brown was necessary for a team hoping to contend for the NFC East in 2022.”

NFL pundit Chris Trapasso collapsed why it makes sense for Tennessee too. Brown meanwhile tweeted — and deleted — your reaction.

Just before that blockbuster dropped, the ravens sent Marquesa Brown to the Cardinals. Here is that trade:

  • Cardinals get: WR marquise brown100th pick
  • Ravens get: 23rd pick (changed to 25 to select C) Tyler Linderbaum and add selection number 130)

nfl reporter cody benjamin thinks the Cardinals are clear winners hereY lamar jackson he’s not very happy about it.
