Elden Ring just got its 1.04 update, and it’s a bigun: over a gigabyte. In addition to quest updates, weapon upgrades, spell nerfs, and other tweaks and fixes, the game now also includes a tutorial for the tutorial. It seems like a lot of players missed it completely, and the developers prefer that you learn the basics before diving into The Lands Between.
Now when you walk towards the hole that leads to the Cave of Knowledge, a message appears on the screen saying, “Jump into the hole ahead and you will find the Cave of Knowledge. There, you can learn more about the game controls and basic actions, as well as other tips that may come in handy during your adventures in the Midlands.”
This is helpful, as despite the ghost telling new players to go to the dark well, many thought this was FromSoftware’s attempt to cause them an untimely death, which is why a lot of people never went down there.
An incredibly useful tip that you will learn is that jump attacks break the invisible balance beams that all enemies have. Heavy and two-handed attacks also help break this up, and the good news is the strength increase, they just got a buff.
The attack speed of colossal swords and weapons has been increased and their cooldown has been reduced. meaning they will hit much faster overall. Two-handed weapons of these varieties will also result in increased attack damage. Guard Rate and Guard Rise have also been improved, meaning you can survive longer without a shield.
The casting speed of many spells and enchantments has been increased, but their cooldown has been reduced. Some will now also allow you to sustain more attacks while casting without breaking the spell.
Many weapon skills have also had changes, but the perfect Ground Slam remains unchanged. Good. You can win the game using only Ground Slam, so it’s clearly perfect.
There are also standard bug fixes, including one that allowed unauthorized items to be passed to players. No more forbidden panties.
