Final Fantasy fans will already know that Square Enix likes to sell pretty expensive products, but it might have set a new record last night. when he put the Final Fantasy 6 1/6 scale Masterclass statue up for sale. The shared video of the statue shows that it’s absolutely huge and a very impressive Square Enix piece, but the price tag of 1.45 million yen, or $11,500, is sure to make even the biggest Final Fantasy 6 fan shell out. Square also confirmed that the statue would be limited to 600 pieces worldwide, 150 of which would go exclusively to Japan. Pre-orders for the statue will run until they hit the cap of 600, with it expected to start shipping on July 23, 2023.

THE GAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

For comparison’s sake, Square Enix’s first figure in the Masterclass series, one of 2B, 9S, and A2 from Nier Automata, cost around $2,478 total. It’s unclear why there’s such a huge difference in price between the two, but it has drawn the ire of many fans and even former Square Enix employees. Legendary Square Enix director Hironobu Sakaguchi tweeted“Even compared to the cost of making dioramas for Fantasian. Isn’t that too much? Do you agree with Square Enix?”

This incredibly expensive merchandise should come as no surprise to anyone already used to Square Enix. Just the other day we reported that he was selling Kingdom Hearts cups that were $600 each, which is still a far cry from the ten thousand plus dollars you’d be paying for this statue, but it’s still a reminder of how common this is for the business.
