A Pokémon fan shares photos of an amazing piece of cross-stitch artwork that his mother worked on and completed after nearly a decade.

It seems like every day Pokemon community produces original pieces that really wow the rest of the fan base. With a total of 898 Pokémon rostering in the franchise, fans are given a wealth of resource material to create basically whatever comes to mind. Recently, a Pokemon fan posted about an amazing piece of cross-stitch artwork her mom has worked on, sharing that it took her almost eight years to complete the product.

With the recent revelation of scarlet pokemon and Violet, the inspiration probably struck the creative minds within the Pokemon community. There have been a lot of amazing fan art and fan theories popping up online, especially since The Pokemon Company only revealed the new starters for Gen 9. However, despite all the hype about the upcoming title, there are still many in the community who remember the old one. generations of Pokémon and take inspiration from the oldest pocket creatures in the series.

On Reddit, user HerenJames shared a single image of the cross-stitch artwork his mother has worked on for the past eight years. The amazing fabric art stands five feet tall and contains images of every Pokémon in the series up to generation five. This means that HerenJames’s mother cross stitched 649 Pokémon onto a single canvas, from the Pokemon starters from the Kanto region and all the way to the legendaries of Unova. Fans taking a look at the cross stitch piece will likely see many of their favorite pocket creatures from five different generations of Pokémon.


The Reddit thread posted by HerenJames seems to have erupted with praise from other peers. Pokemon fans. According to Redditor, the pattern came from Lord Libidan, an internationally renowned cross-stitch designer. One commenter found it surprising that HerenJames’ mother was able to fully complete the pattern, given the large number of Pokémon and the amount of detail incorporated into the design. Responding to each comment, HerenJames shared that her mom didn’t care much about design details and she just wanted something “colorful” to create. When asked which his mother thought was the best Pokémon, HerenJames said that he found the popular Fairy-type Pokémon Clefairy to be “the best”.


Although this is likely not the first piece of cloth fan art made by the Pokemon community, this seems to be one of the best that can be found online. Let’s hope the Redditor’s mom keeps doing more. Pokemon cross-stitch pieces, especially now that there are nine generations of Pokémon.
