Johnny Depp trial live: actor says he believed Amber Heard was having an affair with James Franco

Johnny Depp filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard in March 2019.

He alleges that Heard defamed him in a 2018 op-ed for Washington Post.

One of the most shocking points of Depp’s testimony came on Wednesday when he described seeing a photo of feces on his bed days after a fight with Heard.

The actor who did not see Heard between April 22 and May 21, 2016 because he had “received news as absurd as it was grotesque and cruel, and then they showed me an image of what the problem was.”

When Heard was out of town, Depp wanted to visit the penthouse where she was staying to pick up items that were important to him, but his security guard said it was not a good time.

He said he was shown a photo of “our bed and there was human fecal matter on my side of the bed, so I understood why it wasn’t a good time to come down.”

Depp said his “initial response” was to “laugh”.

“It was so outside, it was so weird and so grotesque that I could only laugh,” he added.

Depp and Heard are believed to have started dating that year, after Depp split from his longtime partner, French actress Vanessa Paradis. Depp and Paradis have two children: a daughter named Lily-Rose and a son named Jack.

The couple confirmed their engagement in March 2014 and married in February 2015.

The third week of the Depp-Heard libel trial will resume on Monday with the former pirates of the Caribbean The actor returns to the witness stand for further questioning.

While it’s unclear who will testify after Depp, the independents Clémence Michallon takes a look at some of the prominent names that could be called.

He recalled how Ms. Heard’s “degrading insults,” being “reprimanded,” and “making a fool of himself” frequently escalated into full-scale arguments.

“If there is a dialogue between two people, both people need to talk. But there was no way to fit a word. It was kind of an endless parade of quick insults,” she said, adding that “he wasn’t allowed to be right and he wasn’t allowed to have a voice”.

“You slowly start to realize that you are in a relationship with your mother, in a sense. And I know that sounds wicked and obtuse, but the fact is that some people look for weaknesses in people,” she said.

Depp’s taste for tattoos came to the fore during the trial when he was asked about Heard’s claims that the first time he hit her was in response to a comment about a tattoo.

The actor said that incident did not happen and reiterated that he never hit Heard or any other woman.

He added that this specific accusation never made sense to him because he would have no reason to hit a woman for making fun of his ink.

When asked further if Heard objected to any of her tattoos, she replied that she had changed “Winona forever,” a reference to her previous relationship with actor Winona Ryder, to “Wino forever.” It was unclear which iteration Heard opposed or if she influenced the change.

During questioning about the 2014 flight from Boston to Los Angeles, Depp acknowledged that he had a bad reaction to mixing alcohol with opioids.

The court then heard three audio extracts in which he apparently moaned in pain.

“It sounds like an animal in pain and it’s my voice,” Depp said in response to the audio.

In the last excerpt, his former security guard Jerry Judge can be heard saying, “I’ll stay with this fucking asshole in case he gets sick.”

Depp opened his testimony Tuesday afternoon in Fairfax County, Virginia, calling his ex-wife’s claims “appalling,” “disturbing” and “not based on any kind of truth.”

The Hollywood veteran invoked Disney characters to explain how the allegations have affected his career, saying: “[It’s] very strange when one day you’re Cinderella, so to speak, and then in 0.6 seconds you’re Quasimodo.”
