Elden Ring has been one of the best games released in 2022 so far. The game managed to keep the Soulsborne experience intact while providing an excellent gaming experience. Since it is also available on PC, it was only a matter of time before modders took over and created mods that the community could enjoy. Now one of them is working on a VR mod for the game, and it looks amazing.
The mod is being developed by Luke Ross, a well-known name in the modding community. He has also worked on REAL VR mods for Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
In a chat with PC Gamer, he revealed that the mod will allow players to play in third and first person as well. However, he doesn’t endorse playing third person because he feels “the third person in this game is very far away (about 5 meters on average) and that doesn’t work very well in VR.” He also uploaded a video. that gave us a brief glimpse of what the mod will look like. Look the following video:
Additionally, Ross also mentioned how this VR mod will deal with the potential motion sickness issue considering the ungodly amount of rolling a player does in the game. “When shooting or doing other scripted animations, like combat moves, the camera follows the character’s head (so its position changes) but stays oriented correctly according to what your head does in real life. Therefore, the horizon will remain level and the world will always look stable. Furthermore, he also mentioned that this mod works best for people who are already well versed in VR gaming.
So far, the community has already seen a ton of great mods for the game. From one that invokes the ‘Leave Me Alone Her’ legend, to the ‘Easy Mode’ mod that makes the gaming experience less painful, there are some great options to choose from. There’s also one that removes the blinding Bandai Namco logo at the start to save your eyesight.
While these mods are great, the VR mod will definitely be a game changer as it will allow players to experience an already amazing game from a completely different perspective. It will be available on his Patreon ‘REAL VR’.
